Rick Reed conducted the survey for Pacific Staffing.
"Fifty-seven percent say they are looking for workers in January, February and March of this New Year, and that's higher than in many past years. This is traditionally our slowest period of hiring during the year."
In fact, in 2010 only forty-six percent of top companies said
they would hire in the first quarter. In 2011 it was fifty-one
percent.
Reed says more than half of the employers he polled between
November and December expect their companies to grow in the year
ahead. Thirty percent said they would not grow.
"So that's a very good indication of a better year in 2013
as almost eighty percent of local companies say they will stay the
same or they will grow, they won't be shrinking or going out of
business."
Of the companies Reed polled, thirty-eight percent are in the
services sector, thirty-three percent are manufacturers,
eighteen percent are construction firms and eleven percent are
retail businesses.
