The California Secretary of State's office shows at least 61 million dollars were spent on health care lobbying over the past two years. More spending will be reported by end of January.

Kaiser Permanente tops the health care lobbying list so far from last session - having spent more than 5 million dollars. Advocacy director Chris Stenrud says the implementation of the Affordable Care Act is their biggest priority.

STENRUD: "In a way that both meets the letter of the law but also the spirit of the law in terms of getting Californians covered."

The California Hospital Association and California Medical Association were the other two biggest players. Dr. Ruth Haskins with the Medical Association says they were pushing for programs to make sure there are enough doctors to see newly insured people next year.

HASKINS: "There won't be enough physicians to go around. So we have to keep our physicians flowing, keep our physician numbers up, and maintain their practices."

Haskins says this session, they'll be closely watching efforts to expand the roles of existing health care workers.
