Stacey Lawson with YGRENE says the company will pay150 contractors to install green products like solar roofs and upgraded air conditioning units.
The company recovers the costs over twenty years with payments coming through a surcharge on the owner's property taxes, "They're getting that savings in advance of them paying the property tax bill. So, we help them scope the energy efficiency measures in a way that reduces their overall energy bill, improves the value of their home or commercial property and gets them the benefit of also helping the environment."
Lawson says the company already has $22 million in orders.
The City of Sacramento says the project, called Clean Energy Sacramento, will create 1500 new jobs and $250 million in economic activity.
