Trinchero is building a new central bottling and distribution center at its Westside Winery site off Woodbridge Road. Jim Huntsinger is Trinchero's Senior Vice President of Production.
"With the bottling plant especially and the distribution facility, it'll be completed by mid-2015, we'll probably add 300-400 more jobs."
Trinchero is the nation's fourth-largest wine seller. Some of
their most popular brands are: Sutter Home; Menage a Trois; and
Wine Cube.
Trinchero will still be based in St. Helena, but Huntsinger
says since it get most its grapes from Lodi, it makes sense to grow
there.
"Rather than haul them all the way over here, make the
wine and bottle it here we're going to make the wine there and
bottle the wine right there and ship it from our distribution site
that we plan there."
The expansion is expected to cost about $300 million.
