The motion calls for the City to lease out parking operations to help pay for an arena, while not raising taxes. Assistant City Manager John Dangberg says the prospective owners have been studying the City's 2012 plan to build an arena at the Railyards, "Now we will look at how some of those basic principles can be introduced into a new deal which would be very different."
One difference would be to build the arena at the Downtown Plaza. A city report says this site could save the City money when it comes to design and construction costs. This plan is favored by one of the prospective bidders on the Kings -the investment group led by Ron Burkle and Mark Mastrov.
