Nevada faces 33 million dollars in cuts.  Elizabeth Roberts with the Pentagon says that'll hit 2,400 Department of Defense civilian employees in Nevada.

ROBERTS: "We are not terminating any of our employees, we are asking them to stay home without pay one day per week."

But schools are different. Kristen McNeill with the Washoe County School District says they will terminate 20-30 full time jobs.

MCNEILL: "I could be a principal and losing a very valued instructional coach that goes into the classroom or an intervention teacher that works with students on a day to day basis. So these are very real cuts."

Two thirds of the cuts are expected to be in schools and social services.  Programs that could be affected include work study, help for job seekers and childhood vaccines.
