After two relatively dry months the Sacramento area will be getting some rain this week and the sierra will get snow. Jason Clapp is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sacramento:
"Be prepared for a significant change. I mean, this isn't by any means a superstorm where it's dropping copious amounts. But it's just a significant change from what we've seen."
Clapp says we can expect moderate valley rain with likely thunderstorms and moderate to heavy mountain snow along with periods of breezy to strong winds.
The brunt of the storm is expected between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. But showers are expected to continue into Friday.
Clapp says up to 15-inches of snow is expected to accumulate near the 5,000 foot and higher elevation…including the Interstate 80 and Highway 50 corridors.
