The underground tours in Old Sacramento are getting a little more risqué… if you know which tours to take,
"Welcome everybody to the underground tours," says Steve Bralley. He is more than a guide for the Old Sacramento Underground tours, he's "Sheriff George 'Tight Knot' Lee" a combination of real-life characters and fictional lawmen.
He wears a black vest and impressive silver moustache. He tells a family-friendly story of Old Sacramento before…and after the flood that caused townsfolk to raise the city and begin building levees. "We just like to give them the overview and impress upon them what it takes for one group of people to work for one common cause."
And then there's the story intended to add a little spice - initially only told during two special, Thursday night tours in April…the story for adults that includes a lot more of the city's darker past, "And we tell em about some of the brothels and the lawlessness and the gunplay and the things of that nature. "
The Historic Old Sacramento Foundation runs the tours and is expanding the number of adult-themed tours to every Thursday starting in May. That will be popular among some of the Foundation's Facebook fans. More than one have posted that Sheriff Lee is pretty dreamy.
The organization is also hoping to add more underground tour locations.
