California was among 22 states that saw unemployment decrease in February.
The jobless rate now stands at 9.6-percent, down from 9.8-percent in January.
Mississippi and Nevada are the only other states in the nation with an unemployment rate as high as California's.
The national rate is 7.7-percent.
But California is among the nation's leaders in job gains, adding more than 41,000 to payrolls in February.
The leisure and hospitality sectors saw the largest increase over the month, adding almost 16,000 jobs.  The trade, transportation and utility sectors lost the most jobs.
Texas is the only state that gained more jobs than California in February.
