Roseville Considers Water Rate Hikes

Roseville utility officials say they need to raise water rates by 2.5% and wastewater rates by 3%.

That would translate into an increase of less than $2 a month for the typical residential user for water, sewer and refuse services.

Ed Kriz is Roseville's Interim Environmental Utilities Director. He says the rate increases will help pay for the increased cost of doing business brought on by inflation...

"...as well as some other elements such as: energy costs that are going up; fuel; chemicals to run our operation. Those are actually outpacing inflation a little bit with what we anticipate coming down in the next several years."

If the rate increases are approved, they would go into effect on July 1st. A second water utility rate increase would kick-in a year later.

The Roseville City Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed increases Wednesday night.
