For the first time, Amtrak will take 500 fans from Sacramento to Sonoma for the NASCAR race on June 23rd.
More than a third of the people who go to races in Sonoma are from the Sacramento/San Joaquin area. That's according to Steve Page -the president of the raceway, "Everyone who jumps on the train will be one more car that isn't headed on the highway on their way here and that will be great for us minimizing congestion and it'll great for fans because they'll have the chance to relax and enjoy themselves all the way to the track and all the way home."
The train will stop in Davis and Suisun City.
Sonoma Raceway will decide if it will offer more rides and/or longer trains based on the demand for tickets to the June race.
