Mira Loma beat out 70 other high schools that competed in the U.S. Department of Energy's 23rd annual Science Bowl. Richard Nichols is Mira Loma's Principal.

"We were kind of on edge - pins and needles waiting to hear. And then when we got the news we were just elated."

Mira Loma won by correctly answering a medical question that even Principal Nichols admits he's a little vague about…

"It was a….a question about what part of the…brain function effects…I think the wrinkles in a nervous twitch…I'm not…it's way beyond me."

He's not far off…the problem asked the kids which damaged cranial nerve would account for a list of specific symptoms, including facial muscle paralysis and an inability to wrinkle the forehead.

The members of the winning team are: Saaket Agrawal, Siddharth Trehan, Daniel Shen and Jack Gurev. They were coached by James Hill.

Their prize is a all-expense paid science trip to Alaska.
