Ellen Moore heads the non-profit Sacramento Running Association
which organizes the California International Marathon…or CIM…held
in December.
Moore announced today that the association is donating $10,000
to "The One Fund Boston" set up to help people affected by the
April 15th explosions.
"People still have the victims in mind and are still doing
what we can to show our support both in solidarity and also
financially."
Moore says the association likes to think of CIM as the Boston
Marathon of the West.
Both races are point-to-point courses and each year about
1,600 CIM runners earn a qualifying time to enter the Boston
Marathon.
"Even if you've never even run a marathon, you're just a
casual 5K, 10K type of runner, you take it personally and you see
it as an attack on the lifestyle."
Moore says this year's CIM in December will include some sort
of memorial for the Boston bombing victims.
