The governors of California and Nevada have announced an
agreement to repeal Nevada's threat to quit the decades-old Lake
Tahoe Compact.
California Governor Jerry Brown and Nevada Governor Brian
Sandoval issued a joint statement today renewing their commitment
to do what's best for "the environment and the economy of the Lake
Tahoe region."
Under the agreement, amendments will be introduced to bills in
the Nevada and California state legislatures that repeal Nevada's
planned withdrawal from the Tahoe Regional Planning Compact in
2015… and California's proposal to re-establish a California Tahoe
Regional Planning Agency in 2014.
The governors also agree to require consideration of economic
conditions when assessing regional plans for the Tahoe Basin.
