Marcos Breton Today on Insight, it's time for our monthly check-in on various issues in the news with "Sacramento Bee" columnist Marcos Breton.

Tamara Keith NPR reporter Tamara Keith has reported this year from Haiti and the Gulf oil spill and she's talking about those experiences tonight at a Sacramento Press Club event. You'll meet Keith and hear about her reports.

Ridley Pearson Author Ridley Pearson will be in town next week for a book signing for his new novel, "In Harm's Way." The bestselling author of sixteen novels, including "Peter and the Shadow Thieves" and "Peter and the Starcatchers," both with Dave Berry, is the first American to be awarded the Raymond Chandler/Fulbright Fellowship in detective fiction at Oxford University. He's also one of the founding members of the Rock Bottom Remainders with Stephen King, Amy Tan, and Greg Iles. You'll meet him and hear about his work.

Marian Call Alaska-based singer-songwriter Marian Call is currently doing a "crowdsourced" tour of all 50 states, where she plays small venues like coffeeshops and people's houses.  All the show dates are organized by her fans and she performs at a house party in Elk Grove tonight. You'll meet her and hear her perform in our studio.
