Insight: State Worker Furloughs / Michael Tellinger / Artist Deborah Aschheim / Gay and Lesbian Film Fest

State Worker Furloughs The California Supreme Court sided with Gov. Schwarzenegger and ruled that state worker furloughs were legal last year and that no back pay is owed to workers. We'll talk with the Sacramento Bee's Jon Ortiz about it. Plus, you'll hear from the Governor's office and one of the state employee unions that filed the suit.         

Michael Tellinger Michael Tellinger is speaking in Newcastle about his research into a 200,000 year old civilization discovered in South Africa. We'll talk with him about it.

Artist Deborah Aschheim Los Angeles artist Deborah Aschheim is speaking in Sacramento today. Aschheim will speak about her public artwork "Taxonomy," which was recently installed on the exterior facade of the Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library. The work is made of fiberglass and lit from inside with color and changing lights.

Deborah Aschheim is given a free lecture from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library, 7335 Gloria Drive, Sacramento.

Gay and Lesbian Film Fest The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival begins this Thursday. We'll talk with the festival president and the local director of a short film "Calling Card" being shown at the festival.

The Sacramento International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7th and runs through Saturday, Oct. 9th at The Crest Theatre, 1013 K St., Sacramento.
