California Budget Update Capital Public Radio Capitol Bureau Chief Marianne Russ gives us an update on California's budget situation and the latest developments with Jerry Brown and legislative leaders.

New York and Texas Budget Problems The State of New York is having similar budget difficulties as California. We'll talk with Karen Dewitt, Capitol Bureau Chief of NYS Public Radio about how New York is handling its shortfalls and what legislators are doing there. And in Texas, Gov. Perry says there isn't a problem, but the state is now suddently facing a $25 million shortfall. We'll get the latest from Ben Philpott, Political Reporter at KUT in Austin, Texas.

Homeland Security Research UC Davis scientists have worked on liquid screening technology for airport security. Professor Matt Augustine tells you how he and his students are adapting technology to screen the contents of wine bottles for homeland security purposes. This segment originally Jan. 3rd.
