Insight: Sikh Shooting / The Domes / Enterprise Zones / Catriona McPherson

Sikh Shooting in Elk Grove Two elderly Sikh men were gunned down in Elk Grove on Friday for no apparent reason while on their afternoon walk. Some in the Sikh community believe the victims were targeted because they wear turbans and are often mistaken for being Muslim. Today on Insight, we'll get an update on the police investigation from Officer Christopher Trim with the Elk Grove Police Department. We'll also talk with Amar Shergill, attorney and member of the Administrative Committee of the Sacramento Sikh Templ, and Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of the Sacramento Chapter of CAIR.

The Domes Should UC Davis shut down the Domes, a cluster of unusual early-'70s housing in a part of campus called Baggins End? The students who live there say it's a sustainable and educational place to live and learn. But the university says the Domes are not safe to live in. We'll talk with  Kara Sweeny and Danielle Fodor, two students who currently reside there, and we'll hear from Emily Galindo, Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Director of Student Housing at UC Davis, and Robert Segar, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Campus Planning at UC Davis.

Enterprise Zones As Gov. Jerry Brown continues his countdown to a budget solution, one of the most controversial aspects includes doing away with redevelopment agencies and enterprise zones. We've talked extensively about redevelopment agencies on Insight, but what exactly are enterprise zones and how do they differ from each other? We'll talk about this issue with Alissa Anderson, Deputy Director of the California Budget Project, which opposes enterprise zones; and Matt Mahood, President and CEO of the Sacramento Metro Chamber, which supports them.

Catriona McPherson Mystery novelist Catriona McPherson has a new book out, "Dandy Gliver and an Unsuitable Day for a Murder." McPherson is orginally from Scotland and recently moved to California with her husband who is a scientist at UC Davis. You'll meet McPherson and hear about her work.
