Insight: How to Apologize / CT Scan Research / The 5th Quarter / Phoebe Snow

How to Apologize Sacramento State's Philosophy Department is holding its final ethics event of the academic year. The topic of the symposium is "On Being Wrong" and one of today's presentations comes from Sac State Philosophy Professor Russell DiSilvestro. DiSilvestro's talk focuses on how to apologize and mean it. We'll talk with him about it.

CT Scan Research CT scans are used to screen for serious illnesses. But could heavy use of this technology make you more susceptible to cancer? A UC Davis radiologist recently worked on research that found an association between CT scans and a significant increase in cancer incidence. We'll talk about this with John Boone, Medical physicist and Professor and Vice Chair of Radiology at UC Davis Medical Center. We'll also talk with researcher Karim Chamie, Fellow in Urologic Oncology and Health Services Research at UCLA.

"The 5th Quarter" The 5th Quarter premiers tonight in Sacramento. The film stars Andie MacDowell and Aidan Quinn and is a true story about family, faith, football and the gift of life. Two Sacramento bands, Mama's Gravy and SupaPhat, provided music for the soundtrack, and one of those band members also served as an associate director of the film. We'll talk about it with Joel McDonell, associate director of the movie and member of the Mama's Gravy, and Ken Rudolph, member of the Mama's Gravy.

Phoebe Snow Blues-pop singer Phoebe Snow died Tuesday morning. She was a guest on Insight in early 2008 prior to an outdoor concert in Davis. Her story - leaving her career for years to care for her disabled daughter - was very moving and we'll listen to it again.
