Insight: Mutual Housing / California's Energy Future / SacPress / Author Jeff Shaara

Mutual Housing In Sacramento, people need to earn almost $20 an hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment, yet the average hourly wage for area renters is a little more than $14. Today on Insight, you'll hear about a local housing project that's trying to help. Mutual Housing provides training and mentoring as well as educational programs, community-building activities and services for residents and neighbors. We'll talk about it with Rachel Iskow, Sacramento-Yolo Mutual Housing Association Executive Director, and Mindy Romero, the new chair of the Board of Directors of Mutual Housing and a resident of Tremont Green, one of Mutual Housing's communities in Yolo County.

California's Energy Future California emissions levels will drop to 80 percent below 1990 levels through technology and practices already in use, available, and some currently being developed, according to a report from the California Council on Science and Technology. "California's Energy Future - The View to 2050" looks a generation ahead at what it will really take to reach emissions goals. We'll talk about it with Susan Hackwood, Executive Director, California Council on Science and Technology; and Jane C. S. Long, Fellow, Center for Global Security Research and Principal Associate Director at Large Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
