Insight: Regional Youth Study / New PTA President / "Folly Beach" / Sound Advice

Regional Youth Study A two-year study from the UC Davis Center for Regional Change is being released today.  It shows that local youths are unemployed, underemployed and under-educated. We'll speak with lead researcher Jonathon London and the Chief Executive Officer of the Sierra Health Foundation, Chet Hewitt, who commissioned the study.   They'll explain challenges this generation's children face and what the state can do to help them.

PTA President Carol Kocivar, a resident of San Francisco, is the new president of the California State Parent Teacher Association. The PTA has nearly 1 million members throughout the state and is headquartered in Sacramento. We'll talk with Kocivar about some of the many issues facing California schools, including budget cuts and the study commissioned by the Sierra Health Foundation.

"Folly Beach" Novelist Dorothea Benton Frank will be in Sacramento Thursday, July 14th to promote her new book "Folly Beach" at the Sacramento Bee Book Club.
