Insight: UC Davis Student Deportation / Baby Buddies / Hapa / Sound Advice

Davis Student Deportation Mandeep Chahal is a 20-year-old UC Davis pre-med student whose parents brought her to America from India illegally when she was six years old.  She was nearly deported last month until friends, family, and a supportive community fought to get her a last-minute temporary reprieve.  Now, Mandeep is rallying with others in support of the Dream Act, legislation that will provide a path to citizenship for children who were brought to America by a parent as minors and had no control over entering the country.  We'll talk with Mandeep about her ongoing legal case, and newfound activism.

Baby Buddies Marysville's Harmony Health Medical Clinic has just added a new natural childbirth center. The Baby Buddies Birth Center opened earlier this week and offers expecting mothers the opportunity to give birth naturally in a safe, supportive alternative to the typical hospital setting.  We'll speak with Rachel Farrell, director of the Harmony Health Medical Clinic.

Hapa Pan-Polynesian musical group Hapa is playing at Harlow's tonight and they've just added a second show because the first one sold out in 24 hours.  We'll speak singer, guitarist, and founder of Hapa, Barry Flanagan.

Sound Advice: Jazz It's time for this week's edition of "Sound Advice," our weekly music feature. This week, Devin Yamanaka brings us some new sounds in Jazz.
