Insight: Capitol Chat / Jean Ross / Skip Heller / Paloma Negra

Capitol Chat Sacramento Bee reporter and creator of the State WorkerJon Ortiz, joins us for this week's Capitol Chat. Pension reform, corrections layoffs, and the reinstatement of long-anticipated full-time hours (and pay) for tens of thousands of state workers are just a few of the topics buzzing around the capitol this week.

Jean Ross The executive director of the California Budget Project, Jean Ross, discusses the possibility of automatic spending triggers shooting holes in the state's education budget.  She'll also talk about the governor's new proposal for pension reform, and the death of Tim Hodson.

Skip Heller Singer/songwriter Skip Heller brings the sounds of stripped-down rockabilly to Sacramento's Shine Café Saturday night.  Heller's new album "The Long Way Home" was recorded in a friend's apartment and draws on his influences of punk, rock, jazz, country and soul music.

Paloma Negra Paloma Negra is a Sacramento-based Pan-Latin American folk group that has just finished recording an album of Dia de los Muertos music.  We'll speak with vocalist Areceli Collazo and band director Dominic Garcia.
