Redistricting Challenge The California
Supreme Court ruled Friday that the state Senate maps drawn last
year by an independent redistricting commission will be used in the
June primary and November election. Republicans brought
the legal challenge to the new maps in an attempt to block
Democrats from gaining enough seats to pass taxes on their
own.
Ending Federal Inmate Medical Care
Oversight A United States judge says it's time to
start planning to end federal oversight of California's inmate
medical care. As the clock ticks federal receiver J. Clark
Kelso says California is nearly ready to take back control of its
prison health care. But Don Specter, director of the
nonprofit Prison Law, says California still hasn't proved it can
provide adequate inmate health care.

keep her family farm, and a filmmaker whose documentary about the
Good Humus' struggle to stay alive is being shown at the Sacramento
Natural Foods Coop on Tuesday.
