School Nutrition Standards For the first time in 15 years the federal government has overhauled school nutrition standards.  The new standards require more fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads, and all milk to be one percent or less.  But many schools in the Sacramento region already meet, and even exceed the standards.  We'll speak with food service directors from two area school districts to see what they serve in their lunchroom and what they need to change to comply with the new national standard by July 1.  We'll also speak with the Nutrition Education Administrator of the California Department of Education about what the state needs to do to comply with the standards and what it will cost.
