Insight: Sacramento Responders Helping with Hurricane Sandy / News Network: School Bond Measures / Proposition 37 / Francie Dillon

Hurricane Sandy What could potentially be the biggest storm to hit the US mainland ever is halting normal daily activity along the East Coast and forcing hundreds of thousands of people to leave their homes in search of safer ground.  In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy's land fall Tuesday morning, the Red Cross has sent 13,000 volunteers to man evacuation shelters in front of Hurricane Sandy's projected path, which is expected to span from North Carolina to New England.  We'll speak with one of 18 Red Cross volunteers from the Sacramento region who has just arrived on the East to assist at an evacuation shelter outside New York City.

People who want to help can go to www.Redcross.org or text "Red Cross" to 9099 for a $10 donation.

Proposition 37: GMO Labeling Perhaps one of the most contentious initiatives on California's November ballot is a proposal to require food producers to label genetically engineered food.  Proponents of Proposition 37 say genetically engineered food is harmful to your health and consumers deserve the right to know exactly what they're eating.  Opponents say genetically engineered food is harmless and a new labeling requirement will make food producers favor more expensive ingredients to avoid labels, which will drive up the cost of food.  We're speaking with Senior Scientist at Pesticide Action Network North America Marcia Ishii-Eitman, who supports Prop 37, and Director of Seed Biotechnology at UC Davis Kent Bradford, who opposes the proposition.
