News Network: Nevada President Obama's call
to overhaul the nation's immigration system in Las Vegas last week
is an indicator of how critical immigration changes are for Nevada.
The state is home to a large population of politically active
Latinos pressuring their state representatives to grant more rights
to legal and illegal immigrants in the 2013 legislative session,
which begins this week. We'll talk about immigration and some of
the other major issues the Nevada legislature is planning to tackle
in this year's session with Reno

Wellness Within What do patients, survivors
and families do to cope with the stress of cancer? Or any other
long-term, serious illness? A local non-profit is trying to help.
Wellness Within is a Mind-Body Wellness Center that uses a
combination of research-based healing therapies, such as breathing,
movement, drawing, biofeedback, meditation, journaling, guided
imagery and self-care techniques, to give people the tools they
need to get through it. We'll talk about it with Patti Brown,
founder and executive director of Wellness Within. And we'll hear how two
different people are utilizing the center.
Fred Krupp For many people, 2012 highlighted
the need for America to start combating climate change more
intensely. Superstorm Sandy ravaged the East Coast, a drought
starved crops in the Midwest, and unseasonably warm weather in
December perplexed Northern California. The CEO of the
Environmental Defense Fund, Fred
Krupp, has been paying attention to climate change and each
state's plans to curb it in the coming years. Krupp is currently in
the middle of a trip to Northern California and joins us to discuss
the state's new cap and trade program and its recent foray into the
oil exploration method most commonly known as "fracking."
Band of the Golden West The Commanders Jazz Ensemble is an Air Force band
from Travis Air Force Base that provides the soundtrack for any
major military event. They also play some pretty darn good
jazz.
