Cal Fire and the Placer County Sheriff’s Department say a pyrotechnic device started the Robbers Fire last week near Foresthill.

Cal Fire reports the Robbers fire is 70 percent contained and is expected to by fully contained by July 21st. Crews have made significant progress fighting the foothill fire which has scorched 2,650 acres of land in rural Placer County.

Placer County officials say some evacuees will be allowed to return to their homes at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Robbers fire is 60% contained. Full containment expected on July 21.

Business has been slow at some shops in Colfax since the Robbers Fire started.

People who live in communities threatened by the Robbers fire remain hopeful it will all end soon.

Firefighters are gaining on Robbers Fire, with 45 percent containment. The fire has grown to 2,600 acres and crews are focused on protecting structures, as the weather cooperates. Estimated cost at $6.9 million.

Fire fighters battling wildfires across California this week are getting support from hundreds of state prison inmates. That's been the case for years, but Gov. Jerry Brown's prison realignment is starting to reduce the number of available inmates.

Robbers Fire has grown to 1,950 acres and is still 20 percent contained. 1,952 people are working the fire, with nine injuries reported.170 homes are threatened and three outbuildings burned.

Total acres burned now 1,300 with 170 residences threatened. The fire has made active runs in both the northeast and southeast section of the fire and has burned up to Brushy Creek in the Yankee Jims area.

There’s some good news about the Robbers Fire – smoke concentrations in most areas of Placer County this afternoon were not as bad as they were yesterday.

The “Robbers Fire” burning near Foresthill in Placer County has grown to more than 1,157 acres and is 10-percent contained. About 150-homes have been evacuated.

Today is the second straight spare the air day in the Sacramento region. And in Placer County, officials are warning its residents to beware of smoky conditions from the Robbers fire.

The Robbers Fire has grown to 800 acres, with 10 percent containment. New areas are being evacuated. Cal Fire officials say 150 homes are threatened, and more than 1,800 personnel are working the blaze.

Several agencies are fighting the Robbers Fire in Placer County near Foresthill. The fire is burning in dense forest near homes, and evacuations have been ordered. The 200-acre blaze is 20 percent contained as of late Wednesday.
