Andrew Garcia

Weekend and Fill-in Host, News and Modern Music

Andrew grew up in California’s Central Valley, in the relatively small town of Manteca. Shortly after receiving his first car as a teen, he discovered CapRadio and learned all the wonders of Insight, This American Life, All Things Considered, Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me, and the numerous other eclectic, vibrant, and engaging content public radio had to offer. He’s been hooked ever since.

After time as a student volunteer hosting a weekly music show, he spent the first part of his career as the Station Advisor of Sacramento State’s student-run radio station, KSSU. Teaching students how to broadcast and share their voices was very rewarding; and during that time, he realized the power radio has to build and serve communities.

He now brings what he’s been told is “a voice for radio” to CapRadio’s airwaves to serve as your friendly guide through a smorgasbord of awesome programming, news, storytelling and more! When not on the radio, listening to radio, or thinking about radio, he can be found collecting vinyl, watching foreign-language films, pretending he can still play the guitar and playing board games with his friends.
