Alan Ray

Senior Editor, News

Senior Editor Alan Ray: Loves radio. He's worked in radio and news in San Diego, Seattle and San Francisco as an anchor, talk show host, reporter, editor, producer, and most recently as a Public Radio Senior Editor. He's won national and regional awards for breaking news coverage and sustained emergency news coverage of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens; the events of Sept. 11, 2001; and the San Diego wildfires of 2007. He's covered two national political conventions and produced election coverage in Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, and… now… Sacramento.

It hasn't all been serious. Alan has won awards for feature reporting and the use of sound for topics ranging from the arrival of standardized time in the U S., to the way we lived in the "Camelot years" of the Kennedy presidency… to how friendship works.

His non-radio interests include music, medicine, politics and handball…though not always in that order. He moved from San Francisco to public radio in San Diego as Senior Editor at KPBS in 2006 and joined Capital Public Radio in May of 2010.
