Kate Gonzales

Former Insight Producer

Kate Gonzales was a producer for “Insight with Beth Ruyak.” She kicked off her media career in a small, Northern California newsroom, where she typed obituaries and sheriff’s logs. Since then, she’s worked for KVIE Public Television and Sacramento News & Review (with a quick stint as a host at a local brewery).

In 2014, she earned her degree in sociology from Sacramento State. As a print reporter, she has covered arts & culture and news in the region. She was recently recognized with a 2018 California Journalism Award for a sports feature on a homeless street soccer program.

Before joining Insight in 2019, Kate worked as a freelance writer. She continues to freelance for SN&R and other publications. Her favorite podcasts include Criminal, 99PI, This is Hell! and of course, This American Life. When she’s not working, she might be jogging, enjoying drinks on Sacramento patios, or petting other people’s dogs.
