Ky Plaskon

Former Contributing Sierra/Reno Reporter

Ky Plaskon was Capital Public Radio's Sierra Reporter. He worked in public radio since 1994, from the bear-infested wilderness of Talkeetna, Alaska to the paradise of San Diego and the odd urban phenomenon of Las Vegas.

In 2008 Plaskon wrote Silent Heroes of the Cold War (Stephens Press), a non-fiction study of transgenerational war trauma arising from government secrecy. He also teaches journalism at UNR and hold a Master's in Journalism and Media Studies from UNLV. Over the years he's won numerous awards for radio work and takes pride in the art of storytelling. Plaskon strives to be a true multi-media journalist, applying extensive experience in print, web and television to every story.

Plaskon's passion is in mountain life like Tahoe and Truckee where where he loves to ski, mountain bike, trail run and sail.  Plaskon's family is in Northern Nevada as well.
