Paul Conley

Creative Content Producer

Paul started at CapRadio in 1987 as a jazz host.  He moved into the news department in 2001 to serve as the station’s first Arts Editor. Later came a transition to Senior Producer, then Senior Editor for Innovation.

In 2015 Paul returned to the music department to serve for six years as Managing Editor, Music and Arts, overseeing CapRadio’s classical and jazz formats and streams.

In his current role as Creative Content Producer, Paul brings high level technical and artistic knowledge and skills in support of CapRadio’s audio content production across all formats and platforms.

Paul helped develop CapRadio’s award-winning documentary unit The View From Here, exploring such topics as food insecurity, family caregiving and adults with autism through the intimate lens of first-person storytelling.

In 2006, Paul co-produced Dina's Diary, featuring Carmichael resident Dina Howard and her emotional journey through a year of breast cancer treatment. The powerful program continues to air on radio stations across the country.

From 1996 to 2002 Paul wrote and produced ten one-hour documentaries for NPR’s weekly series Jazz Profiles, hosted by singer Nancy Wilson. Erroll Garner, Paul Desmond, Mel Tormé, and Quincy Jones are among the subjects he profiled. His show on vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson was part of Jazz Profiles’ Peabody Award season of 2001.

Paul has also produced shorter features for NPR on The Monterey Jazz Festival, Dave Brubeck and Ansel Adams, Moby Grape, Eric von Essen, and composer Avner Dorman’s collaboration with the Stockton Symphony.
