In a city like Sacramento, you'd expect that leaf pick-up would be pretty important:

Erin Treadwell is with the city of Sacramento. She says the device known as "the claw" will visit resident's homes to scoop up leaves and debris every seven to ten days from now until the end of January.
“It’s a tractor-like vehicle. It’s yellow and it has what we call an articulated bucket that’s attached to the front that opens and closes kind of like a jaw.”
Treadwell says the leaves are then taken to be recycled. The city is asking residents to limit piles to leaves and lawn debris. Pet waste is not allowed.
Treadwell says people should place leaf piles six feet away from things like cars or basketball hoops and make sure there's space between the curb and the pile for water to reach storm drains.
