A winter storm is in the forecast for the Sacramento region and the Sierra....just in time for Halloween.
Mike Smith is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sacramento. He says kids and parents going trick-or-treating Friday should expect it to be wet.
"Just really bad timing at this point, coming through right around trick-or-treating time, so I think people should -- who are going to be doing trick or treat activities -- should be prepared for rainfall, and then of course the more hazardous situation up in the mountains with the snow possible," says Smith.
Smith says The Sacramento area could get up to half-an-inch of rain.
He says there's a winter weather watch in effect from Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon in the Sierra, with several inches of snow expected as low as 5000 feet -- and up to a foot expected at the highest elevations.
