UPDATED Jan. 30, 6:50 A.M. A patient at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento is undergoing testing for Ebola. The Medical Center says as of yesterday evening, the patient was in good condition. Test results could take up to 72 hours. UC Davis Medical Center remains open and is operating normally.
UC Davis Medical Center is designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a priority hospital to treat Ebola patients. UC Davis says the patient's presence poses "no risk" to the public or to medical center patients. It says the isolation room is "properly equipped" and segregated.
The State Department of Public Health says whenever a person displays symptoms that may be Ebola, and has recently traveled to Sierra Leone, Liberia or Guinea, such precuations are taken.
11:10 A.M. UC Davis Health System confirms the hospital is not diverting ambulances. Operations continue as normal.
11:00 A.M. UC Davis Health System confirms that the hospital remains open and is functioning as usual. The patient is undergoing testing and the results could take up to 72 hours to confirm.
10:50 A.M. A possible ebola case is being investigated at UC Davis Medical Center, hospital officials confirmed Thursday.
A statement from UC Davis Health System said a patient showing possible ebola symptoms was transferred to UC Davis Medical Center from Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento.
The hospital is working with the California Department of Public Health and the County Department of Public Health in its response to the case.
The hospital was previously designated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a priority hospital to treat Ebola patients.
UC Davis Medical Center remains open and is operating normally, according to the statement.
