The leader of a Roseville-based non-profit group helping to fight Ebola in the West African country of Liberia says the crisis isn't over but the spread is slowing.
Shelley Spurlock heads Raise Your Hand Foundation. On Insight with Beth Ruyak today, Spurlock said Liberian children are returning to school after a six-month hiatus.
"As of February 2nd the schools were reopened and most of them are in process, not all have fully reopened but they're going through registration. But that was a very exciting piece of information for our young people over there."
Spurlock created Raise Your Hand Foundation several years ago to provide university and trade school scholarships for young people in Liberia. But when the Ebola crisis struck last year, the group also began raising money and collecting supplies for health care workers.
Today, the Liberian government is reporting only six confirmed cases of Ebola.
