It was 107 degrees in downtown Sacramento Thursday, a record-breaker. Friday's expected high: a little under 107.
"The good news for next week is it looks like we're going to be going into a cooler pattern and actually have below average temperatures," says Brooke Bingaman is with the National Weather Service.
She says a storm system near Mexico might also bring showers to the Sierra.
"The moisture from that [Hurricane Linda] will be coming towards the west coast, and we do have a slight chance of some thunderstorms that could be developing over the mountains," she says. "And of course that would be aided by the moisture coming in from Hurricane Linda.
