Wildfire Prompts Evacuations For Areas Of Forest Hill

UPDATE 9:15 p.m.: The Trail Fire or Trailhead Fire in Placer and El Dorado counties has prompted evacuations in communities near Foresthill (see list below) . Effective at 10 p.m., Foresthill High School will turn into an evacuation center. 

Air operations battling the blaze had to be halted around 7:40 p.m. because a drone was spotted in the area. As of 8:43 p.m., officials say air operations are back on. 

The fire has grown to 300 acres.


UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: The Trail Fire burning in El Dorado and Placer counties is now 250 acres. Evacuations are in place. 


Original Post: Early Tuesday afternoon a fire broke out in the American River Canyon near Foresthill and Todd Valley in Placer County. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for the following communities:

  • Oakwood Lane
  • Vinewood
  • Trailhead Court
  • Green Pine
Evacuation Advisory issues for the following communities:
  • White Tail
  • Alton Tail
  • Gray Court
  • Tevis Court

An evacuation center has been set up Foresthill High School.

CAL FIRE is reporting the fire is burning around 20 acres. 

The fire has been dubbed the Trailhead Fire and you can follow the hashtag #TrailheadFire on twitter for more information.
