It’s been six months since two Sacramento police officers shot and killed 22-year old Stephon Clark in his grandparents' backyard.

And on Wednesday civil rights leader the Rev. Al Sharpton rallied at a Sacramento neighborhood church to call for "justice."

Sharpton, speaking from Genesis Missionary Baptist Church with Clark’s family members standing behind him, called on officials to expedite the investigation into Clark's death.

He said police investigators, the state attorney general, and the Sacramento County district attorney are putting law enforcement officials ahead of justice by prolonging the investigation. The department has not yet released the names of the involved officers.

“Let the word go out to all of them,” Sharpton said, “that the police have gone back. But this family can’t go back.”

Clark’s mother, Se’Quette Clark, stood quietly with her head down as Sharpton and other family members spoke before speaking briefly herself.

“There’s three law enforcement agencies involved in the murder of my son,” Se’Quette Clark said. “It’s the police who were on foot patrol. It’s the sheriff’s department who ran the helicopter. It’s the dispatcher who worked for the CHP. All three agencies need to be held accountable.”

Last week Sacramento Police spokesperson Sgt. Vance Chandler said that the case “is still being investigated” and that it “hasn’t been handed off” to either the DA or AG offices.

Black Lives Matter demonstrated outside a law enforcement convention in  Sacramento on Tuesday, continuing calls for charges against the officers who shot and killed Clark.
