Video Sampling Of This Weekend's City Of Trees Festival

  •  Melody Stone
Monday, August 3, 2015

Cake, Of Monsters and Men, Elle King and BØRNS are all performing at City of Trees at Gibson Ranch on August 15.

Come August 15th, Gibson Ranch in Antelope will be filled with the sounds of indie rock, thanks to The City of Trees summer concert festival.

We collected performance videos of some of the acts from public radio stations to give you a little taste of what the day might sound like.

CAKE: The Sacramento alt-rock giants are coming home for this festival. Back in 2011 Lead singer John McCrea discussed the band's history and his use of the vibraslap on an episode of World Cafe.

They also went on Mountain Stage to play some songs and talk about American excess.

Of Monsters And Men - Everyone's favorite indie-folk group from Iceland. This band serves up a big sound with catchy sing-along choruses and orchestral arrangements. The band played in the KEXP studios in 2011, right before they blew up all over US radio.

Of Monsters And Men also appeared on World Cafe in July 2014.

BØRNS - Public Media from Fordham University grabbed this video of the synth-pop rocker during SXSW this year.

Garrett Borns, records as BØRNS, and lives full time in a treehouse outside Los Angeles.

Elle King - One of NPR Music’s favorite songs of 2015 so far is King's "Ex's & Oh's." They call the song"an irresistible bit of braggadocio from a soulful pop singer whose delivery exudes gritty, playful charisma."

We couldn't find an official public radio performance video, so here's the official music video. Warning, this video gets a little saucy.

Other acts on the line-up include James Bay, Halsey, and Night Riots. Tickets are $49.50, no taxes, no fees and free parking. The summer concert is put on by Radio 94.7.

City Of Trees: Great Music, Traffic Headaches

    Sunday, August 16, 2015
Reviews of the first City of Trees music festival are mixed. Great bands and an enthusiastic crowd were highlights for many, but major traffic delays leaving the Gibson Ranch venue ruined the event for some.
