Hi, Mom! is an indie pop punk trio lead by guitarist and singer Bailey Zindel. He wrote and recorded his band’s debut “Songs for Me” as a solo project in 2016. In 2017, he teamed up with lead guitarist Jack Wittich and drummer Henry Diem III. The band cites influences like Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, and more.

Bailey’s songs are a deeply personal and honest statement on his journey getting clean and grappling with anxiety.

Hi, Mom! stopped by the Insight studio to perform a special acoustic rendition of their single “Coping Lessons” and talk with Insight host Randol White about the new album.

Bailey on the song “Coping Lessons”:

“To me that song is the thesis statement of this album. I wrote this album after getting sober and “Coping Lessons” kind of looks at my relationship with substances through the lens of a metaphorical relationship… knowing something that is really destructive and harmful for you, but still you kind of wish that you could have that to rely on … about learning to live without the same vices that I was used to and knowing that that was what was best for me.”

You can find upcoming shows for Hi, Mom! on their events page.
