Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays – 1962 World Series

Reprinted / National Baseball Hall of Fame Library, Cooperstown, New York

Modesto author Ken White published earlier this year his young adult novel “Getaway Day” – a book about baseball, growing up, and confronting the challenges of when a parent falls ill with cancer. The book is set in 1962 as the young fan of the San Francisco Giants gets to witness his team practice for the World Series in Modesto. White will be signing books at a Modesto Nuts game Saturday, May 24 and reading from his book at the North Modesto Kiwanis Club Thursday, May 29.
