Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg announces an agreement between the Sacramento City Teachers Association and Sacramento City Unified School District to avoid a potential strike.

Bob Moffitt / Capital Public Radio

The Sacramento City Teachers Association reached an agreement with the district and Mayor Darrell Steinberg to avert a strike planned for Wednesday.

Under the new agreement, teachers will get an 11 percent increase in pay over three years. However, no agreements were made in reducing class sizes or increasing salaries to the extent teachers had hoped. The President and Vice President of the teacher’s union discuss the concessions that were made and how they’re moving forward.
