The California Legislature kicked off this week under the overwhelming backdrop of the we said enough and me too movements.
On Wednesday night, state Senator Tony Mendoza took a month leave of absence amid allegations facing him of sexual harassment against capitol staffers. This came as one of the co-authors of the we said enough letter filed a lawsuit for being fired by her employer, the law firm Wilke-Fluery.
Capital Bureau Chief Ben Adler explains the legislature’s response to the ongoing movements and their priorities for the year ahead.
