Dr. Melba Beals has dedicated her life to enacting social change through journalism and activism. An original member of the Little Rock 9, she was in the first contingent of black students to integrate a white school. She went on to become a successful journalist in San Francisco, author, educator and communications executive.

Dr. Beals is out with two new books:

  • "March Forward Girl" focuses on her childhood in Arkansas.
  • "I Will Not Fear" focuses on the role of faith throughout her life. She’s a guest speaker at Davis High School this Monday.
