On Monday students from Butte County return to school for the first time since the Camp Fire destroyed the town of Paradise and displaced more than 50,000 people. Officials estimate 80 percent to 90 percent of students became homeless following the fire.

California wildfires have had a major impact on students and educators across the state. A CALmatters report found more than 1 million students missed time in the classroom, due either to evacuations or the impacts of the smoke which covered much of the state.

CALmatters Education Reporter Ricardo Cano joins Insight to discuss how districts have responded to the challenge of wildfires and what the impacts might be for students.
