Proposition 64, approved by voters in 2016, legalized recreational marijuana and allowed for the clearance or reduction of cannabis convictions.

The California Department of Justice is currently reviewing statewide records to identify cannabis convictions that may be eligible. Locally, Sacramento County become the latest local jurisdiction to proactively dismiss or reduce such convictions. This follows similar actions in the cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles.

This week, in the State Capitol, a bill to limit where cannabis can be delivered in California failed to get out of committee. Meanwhile, a proposal that would require many local jurisdictions to issue cannabis retail licenses has cleared its first legislative hurdle. CapRadio’s State Government reporter, Scott Rodd, joins Beth Ruyak to dig into the details.
