Just a few short months ago, California’s Democratic Convention was considered “must attend” for anyone running for president. Judging from the attendance at this weekend’s California Democratic Party Endorsing Convention, this is no longer necessarily the case. For example, Former Vice President Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen.  Elizabeth Warren did not attend. There have been new entrants to the already large field: Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. Patrick made an appearance at the convention. 

But, what about candidate and California Sen. Kamala Harris? Her poll numbers have been slipping. And, Rep. Adam Schiff, who is center stage as Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, now hearing President Donald Trump’s impeachment inquiry, joined a weekend session. 

What is the mood of Democrats in light of the impeachment hearings and the presidential race? And what specific issues matter to delegates?  This was something CapRadio’s Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler and State Government Reporter Scott Rodd were especially interested in hearing. This was supposed to be a weekend of big political buzz in California. What were their impressions?
