After a weekend of protests, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg says the silent protest in his neighborhood was “powerful and impactful.” Steinberg says he does not think the Sacramento police department should be defunded.  Instead, he says resources need to be spent on retraining because officers are being sent into situations that they are not prepared to handle.

‘Bending the arc of justice.’ Civil justice advocate Latifah Simon explains it’s OK to speak the words, but it’s most important to make sure to live the words and promise of Dr. King and Malcolm X. She says elected officials and leaders are finally acting and there’s no going back.

Also, Pastor Dr. Tecoy Porter discusses traveling from Sacramento to Houston to assist with the George Floyd memorial and funeral.

Guests

  • Pastor Dr. Tecoy Porter of Genesis Church - Sacramento
  • Lateefah Simon, President of the Akonadi Foundation
  • Darrell Steinberg, Sacramento Mayor
